Carrier Bags
Which carrier bags are permitted?
Following the amendment to Germany's Packaging Act, as of January 1, 2022, lightweight plastic carrier bags with a thickness of 15 to 50 µ (micrometers) may no longer be distributed. This ban also includes bio-based and biodegradable plastic bags.
The following carrier bags are exempt from the ban and are therefore permitted:
- Thin plastic bags with less than 15 µ thickness: These primarily refer to the "knot bags" available at supermarket fruit and vegetable sections. These bags serve a practical and hygienic purpose for handling loose food items. Currently, there are no more environmentally friendly alternatives made from renewable resources or compostable materials available for this purpose.
- Plastic bags with a thickness of more than 50 µ: These bags are classified as reusable bags and are therefore exempt from the plastic bag ban.
Our offered carrier bags comply with the german law!

Environmental protection is becoming increasingly important worldwide, with many countries implementing stricter regulations on packaging and plastic use. We encourage you to stay informed about the environmental protection laws in your own country.
